The American Legion isn't as stupid as you think. WHile their leadership is rightwing, they know damn well Kerry just made a gaffe, and that his criticism of Bush is perfectly accurate. Lesson to the rightwing: You can't run on obviously phony issues. When Bush gaffed all those times and said, for instance, that "we are trying to destroy America", democrats did not go on the attack. We just chuckled. But there is nothing funny to the GOP about being held accountable for their crimes, lies and failures.
