"In OH-2, Wulsin Moves Ahead of Schmidt
In Ohio's 2nd congressional district, a new SurveyUSA poll shows Victoria Wulsin (D) running just ahead of Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-OH) in the campaign's final days. Wulsin now leads 48% to 45%.

Compared to an identical poll two weeks ago, Wulsin has gained 8 points; Schmidt has lost 3.

Key finding: "Republicans support Schmidt 5:1. Democrats support Wulsin 15:1. Independents favor Wulsin, 55% to 35%.

Novak Predicts Democrats Will Take House
With six days until the election, the latest Evans Novak Political Report forecasts Democrats capturing the House.

Other interesting observations:

1. On criticizing the Michael J. Fox ads: Ridiculing the frailty of a sympathetic figure, no matter how uninformed his political ventures, is almost certain to backfire.
2. President Bush's increasingly vigorous campaigning with attacks on Democrats may be playing into Democratic hands by tending to nationalize the mid-term elections. Republican strategists have stressed localizing contests and opposing Democratic efforts to localize them."
