The volunteer army does attract more rightwingers, but the smartest officers now do not support Bush-Cheney, in fact they blame for for the FUBAR mess. Soldiers just follow orders. They were ordered to invade, then basically left there without a plan. It was a terrible blunder by Bush.

I agree cozmo. Two kids from my block who had C grades in HS joined the military. But two other kids who has straight As went on to join the UC system here in California.
