If Kerry apologizes to the soldiers for his misstatement, even now after some time as passed, the issue should probably die away.

It will only go away once it can't be milked for anymore political advantage by the Reps. That's the only thing it's about. Kerry gave them the opening, a very small one, but in a "gotcha" political climate, that appears to be enough.

It's not about substance; it's about "gotcha." Just sad.
