I believe the troops in Iraq have articulated the fact

That Boston Blue blood Kerry just stepped in it with both feet and wallered about. Kerry is completely out of touch with REAL people, it's beyond his comprehension I guess. And it's not just him, it's most of the Demo party.

They want the poor vote; the union vote and on and on. But those poor saps that drink the Kool Aid gloss over the fact these Demos are millionaires too, and will give a rip about them once they are elected.

Too funny! I guess that means the 'botched joke' explanation isn't going over too well in Iraq...

I claim recommendation number 30 = a grub! Joking aside, the idea of military intelligence being an oxymoron is generally fair enough. Blunders galore!

But really, these days, military people should be really smart.

The era when spare young men, with no land to inherit and few prospects at home were shipped off to the front to fight neighbouring tribes in genocidal conflict for hunter-gatherer territorial rights is over [more or less].

During that era, they were bottom of the heap types. Quite disposable, but even so, it was better to not waste them as it was important to stop marauding tribes taking over.

Now, military people should be very smart. They can do a LOT of damage in a short time and giving nukes, tanks, aircraft, ships, and cruise missiles to morons is NOT a good idea.

The unintelligent can get jobs at home doing all sorts of things, where they won't do too much damage or waste too much money. Those operating highly lethal extremely expensive equipment should be highly talented. Soldiers need to be more than just bayonet and rifle-toting cannon fodder.

If there's trouble hiring soldiers, raise the pay rates.

Re: The Soldiers and their poster to Kerry: Powerline: November 01, 2006
Pride of Minnesota

I hadn't intended to post this classic photo, simply because I assume pretty much everyone has already seen it. But we have received several messages from readers identifying at least some of the eight soldiers as members of the 1st Brigade Combat Team of the 34th Infantry Division (MN National Guard). They're smart, they're funny as hell, and they're giving it up for the USA. We salute them with hometown pride.

Kerry, meanwhile, has finally apologized on his web site. It's one of those "sorry I was misinterpreted" apologies, but as some poet once said, 'twill do, 'twill do. If he'd done this 24 hours ago, he'd have been fine.
