I consider Hans island to be a separate dispute. Even if you lump it in with the "Northwest passage" dispute its only a small part of the entire area.

Canada (and to an even greater extent Russia) also claim arctic waters north of there northernmost coasts all the way to the North pole. The US categorically rejects this claim (even as an "exclusive economic zone". And Canada, while maintaining the claim, doesn't seem to get as worked up about it as the Northwest passage.
