So this mandatory directive is not what it appeared to be. "Cutting out mobile service providers" means cellular operators are cut out of the transmission from the State TV stations, not from all possible sources of mobile TV service. The Olympics as a showcase is for international visitors and observers, while not very many handsets in China for the Olympics are going to be "Satellite Terrestrial Interactive Multi-service Infrastructure"-capable. Flo neither, but at least there's competition.

After a while it's a mistake to expect anything but a breaking ball from these people.
