Well Tim, we'll have to disagree. The NW passage is a channel directly though Canadian territories. The Gulf of Sidra is a coastal bend.

No different to us than Hudson's or James Bay which would also be tenuous claims by the reasoning for an international NWP. We consider it internal and do not consider ourselves as a far flung archipelago which is essentially the case against the NWP being Canadian territory.

As to the north of Canada claims well, I mentioned 200 mile limit as in say a corollary to the Gulf of Sidra claims, ie Lybia and a 200 mile limit. Where does it end ? 100, 200, 300...

I am curious to know what you think the US position would be were the NW passage surrounded by US territory, even going back pre 911 and homeland security ? I think it would be viewed very much if not exactly like the Mississippi by the US, a channel through your country. Disagree ?
