It surprised me somewhat that the percentage of persons identifying themselves as republicans has dropped that much. Perhaps these are conservatives who have lost some faith in the republican party....also some libertarians may have come back to that party from a temporary stint as republicans. And some apolitical types may have returned to that status after a fling in the republican camp.
