AL: Welcome to the board of Contrarian Investing! As to the Canadian energy trusts, we have taken a sector approach. Our contrarian sector model calls for investing an equal dollar amount in each of the selected components of the sector when they have ALL reached an oversold technical positions. Then we monitor the portfolio as a whole with a % trailing stop loss. After our initial entry, we are ready to repeat the process (average down) if the portfolio as a whole declines by 5-10%.
