I won't argue with the general overvue of your point. I doubt, however, it would have been quite as bleak but it might have been in that ballpark.

The one thing you've left out of your equation is that Kerry would have brought a large coterie of folk into government who would have been competent and not ideological. A definite upgrade.

But if you focus on the ability to spin the results, Kerry, as we've seen this past week, certainly flunks those tests.
