"We" do not have to.

We have "sophisticated" weapons so we can kill in larger numbers from hundreds to thousands of feet away. With missile technology, we can extend our range and not even have to look at the carnage. It is not a PERSONAL thing with us.

We are civilized and they are barbarians.

The result is the same however.

Taking someone's head off with a knife is very, very personal.
