re: I just found it odd to say the economics work out better when you force people to take a loss (they don't get the electricity from you to another customer without some losses, and there is costs involved in processing your payment, so if they pay retail they take at least a small loss). Sure they work out better for you if you can force someone else to take a loss. I suppose I could say "the economics work out well" if you buy my car for $40k, or my house for $400k, but I doubt you would be interested in the transaction.

The economics work out better for payback on installing solar panels if the electricity you give back is taken from your bill at the same rate you pay for the electricity you use.

Not a complicated concept unless you really work at making it one.
