In the long-run, yes. (Click on those links I included, and you should see my arguments about why I expect strategic benefits for the West, and for desirable concepts like pluralism and religious toleration.) (Just imagine if you can, how an alternate history might have played out --- if the Iran/Iraq Gulf War had not been... affected by our late support to keep Saddam in power --- and if the Persian/Shiite - Arab/Sunni conflicts had matured decades ago, instead of been supressed.
