The term "grunts" is insulting. While some troops may use the term among themselves, it isn't something outsiders should use.

Define your terms: what do you consider "combat troops?" If you exclude medics, combat engineers, EOD, pilots, forward air controllers, special forces, and transporters, you'll be insulting even more people who are in combat.

If you really care about how many troops on the ground, by specialty, have college degrees, you should ask DOD, not me. I can assure you that the overwhelming majority of the troops in any MOS/Rating/AFSC have a high school education.
