>>The enemy in Iraq has morphed from Saddam's military to Al Qaeda and other terrorist groups. I thought that much was clear to you.<<

Bill -

That's not quite a complete list, nor an accurate one. You need to also include the anti-Sunni Shiites and the anti-Shiite Sunni, and add Baathist loyalists, as well as insurgent Iraqis who don't like having their country occupied by us, who may or may not belong to any of those other groups. I'm sure I'm probably forgetting some of them, but they know who they are and wlll probably forgive me. ;-)

Yes, the enemy has morphed, as I said myself, and the fighting continues unabated. Victory is not at hand, nor is it getting closer.

By the way, if you think the war is now against "the terrorists", then let me run a concept by you. If we could somehow magically identify all the people in Iraq who you would define as terrorists, and kill every single one of them, we still would not have made even a minor dent in Al Qaeda, the terrorist group responsible for the 9/11 atrocities. Nor would we have made the U.S. any safer from future terrorist attacks.
