Too bad that the satellites cannot run on the "hot air" that was "spewed" by the investment bankers during the "road show" leading up to the share offering ...

Jon.

Hi ebg. While it might generally be true that the main cause of satellite failures is running out of fuel, that's not been the problem with Globalstar's failures, which have been mainly in the electronic gizzards, with a particular electrical failure mode being the main issue in the early years.

The many failures left the Globalstar constellation with holes in coverage. Very annoying!

Meanwhile, for make benefit the glorious nation of Kazakhstan, the launch of several more satellites on Soyuz rockets draws nearer. From an old news release by Globalstar: <Globalstar also confirmed that it has executed a contract with Starsem, provider of the Soyuz launch vehicle. The Globalstar agreement with Starsem confirms that the provider will conduct at least one launch of Globalstar spare satellites with an option for one additional launch. Starsem has successfully conducted six previous Globalstar launches using the reliable Soyuz launch vehicle. Like the previous launches, the Globalstar spare satellites will be launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan>
