Want to build a bomb? Instructions on a US Government website
November 4, 2006

NEW YORK: The US Government has been forced to close down a website that contains a vast archive of Iraqi documents captured during the war.

It was set up in March under pressure from congressional Republicans who hoped to find new evidence of the prewar dangers posed by Saddam Hussein.

But recently the site has posted documents that weapons experts say present a danger themselves: detailed accounts of Iraq's secret nuclear research before the 1991 Gulf War that constitute a basic guide to building an atom bomb.

The Government closed the website on Thursday after The New York Times asked about complaints from weapons experts and arms-control officials.

International Atomic Energy Agency officials, fearing the information could help nations like Iran develop nuclear arms, privately protested last week to the US. One diplomat said the agency's technical experts "were shocked" at the public disclosures.

Charts, diagrams, equations and lengthy narratives about bomb building go beyond what is available elsewhere on the internet, the experts say. "For the US to toss a match into this flammable area is very irresponsible," said Bryan Siebert, a former director at the Federal Department of Energy, responsible for the US nuclear arms program.

In the spirit of a board supposedly based on discussion, I would submit to you that someone from Seattle has no earthly concept of the Ohio election and the character of Ken Blackwell. I think the left finds it impossible to accept conservative black Republicans. If Blackwell looses it will be the fault of corrupt white Republicans who have proven again the old adage about power corrupting.
