>> First off, I should tell you I have no affinity for Iraqis, especially those who will not step up and help fix their own affairs. That said, I would impose marshall law on all controlled areas of the country until all firearms are confiscated and weapons caches are found. In doing so, I would take no prisoners.

I would order the UN to take over the humanitarian aid and peacekeeping functions. I would cut off all funds not designated specifically for the protection or comfort of our troops.<<

Bill -

Interesting thoughts. I have a couple questions, though.

What about the uncontrolled areas of the country? Like Baghdad?

And as far as "ordering" the UN to take over, I wasn't aware we were in a position to "order" the UN to do anything. May I remind you, also, that when I suggested involving the UN you said, and I quote, "Bring in the UN? Damn, why didn't we think of that? LOL."

It really is harder than just criticizing.

On the second day, I would shut down all anti-American broadcasting and websites. I would close newspapers which aren't 100% pro peace. American entrepreneurs would be encouraged to fill the news vacuum.

Next on the list are the mosques. Each cleric would have to apply for a license to operate a mosque. This would require interviews, background checks and sworn statements to uphold peace. All mosques would be subject to random inspection. Mosques that can't be operated as peaceful institutions will be demolished. Weapons caches found in mosques will result in a speedy trial and execution for the responsible clerics.

On the third day, we would address the structural deficiencies in the new Iraq constitution...
