Lizzie, the economy is doing fine despite your repeated predictions to the contrary. There are always areas to improve upon, however, based on a historical perspective, it's doing pretty darn good.

By the way, I visited an Apple store today. First time I had ever been to one and the place was absolutely packed with people looking to purchase for XMAS. I strongly suspect the momentum Apple has generated with the IPOD and now their newest stand along monitor/computer is going to show an outstanding post holiday surprise to the market.

Bottom line; no jobless recovery as you predicted 3 years ago, no recession as you predicted 7 months ago now and continued strong economy and corporate profits going forward.

Unemployment claims figures" AHAHHAHA. AHAHAHAHHA. Lets see, what are UI benefits now, $500 per month, still? They were that about 10 years ago and haven't gone up in a material way since, really.

The unemployment rate is not calculated using claims for unemployment insurance benefits.

Unemployment is factored using the household survey in conjunction with the establishment survey. The data is then adjusted using actual payroll reports. They both use statistical sampling.
