The Iraq Study Group will present its findings and recommendations in a few weeks. You can bet it will not be "stay the course". In all liklihood, it will include some kind of redeployment in country, leaving security in the cities to the Iraqis. Gradual withdrawal of troops in the next twelve months is also very likely.

The President will endorse the findings and claim they were his plan all along. Fine...if that is what it takes to get us out of the middle of a sectarian civil war.

By the way, GZ, you are prepared for a very nasty day in Iraq on the day Saddam's verdict of death is announced, arent' you. Probably tomorrow. The Sunnis will be furious. Sectarian violence at a whole new level...and our men and women will be stuck in the middle of it.
