Chris -

That is absolutely incredible. It's just stunning to think that the Army Times would print an editorial calling for the removal of the Secretary of Defense.

It's a damning indictment coming from that source, and really quite chilling.

To me, the biggest problem with this Administration's entire handling of the Iraq war, from planning it in the first place to the present moment, is that they have no real understanding of the Iraqi people and what they want. The Neocons thought they could shape Iraq into what they wanted it to be, because what they wanted it to be was so great. And it might even have been great.

But they never asked the Iraqis what they wanted. They didn't ask the Kurds, the Shia, the Sunni or any of the other groups that make up that population.

Iraq itself was an invention of the West, imposed on the inhabitants from the outside. No wonder you can't get the people there to fight for it.
