I fail to see just exactly why Rumsfeld needs to step down.

He doesn't, as long as Bush wants him. The DOD doesn't like a Defense Secretary who makes waves. As I said, firing him now would just be throwing a bone to the Democratic dogs and cause them to howl even more.

We will get a lot of finger pointing about "who lost Iraq" over the next century, if it does continue to go badly. TWT.

these retired generals who didn't have guts to speak up when in service blame current generals for no balls in speaking up to Rumsfeld. they project Rumsfeld as king of the hill and no one attempting to knock him off .

it is sad to think the chiefs would cave into Rumsfield for fear of pension, etc. it seems to go against everything they were trained to do.
