You've got it half right. Both parties do need to be watched like hawks....line item veto power for the President, independent oversight outside of congress over potential conflicts of interest, heavy restrictions on lobbyists-both on who can be one and to their cash flow, much better accounting on uses and sources of campaign funds and so on. Clean the damn joint up some....fresh air. But to think there is something magical about divided government, especially if it means more influence from the likes of Reed, Rangel, Pelosi and company is akin to saying you want weasels to watch the foxes in the hen house. The system needs some fine tuning....not more trash.
