yeah, globalization of service jobs which were enabled with the internet. Actually millions of jobs have been created in this recovery by american companies- offshore.

Another thing that has manifested itself this decade, which was starting in the 90s is the uselessness of evaluating "jobless claims" for the US job market. The 2 chief problems are the 6 month expiration of relevant claims and the value of these claims to the type of people losing their jobs this cycle to offshoring (white collar professionals).

It takes longer for a white collar worker to get a job than 6 mos, so thats a waste and then the amt of the benefit is so low that nobody bothers to file, too much stigma attached. I think we need to look at the jobs created number to see where we are, jobs-wise.

Paulson understands these issues imho.
