For many Seniors there are few places to invest to get a decent return on their capital. Those who owned small businesses and do not have the wonderful pensions enjoyed by our politicians have to continue to make their money work for them, or live in poverty. The Capital losses caused by this ham handed manipulation won't damage the Paul Martin's of the country, but many retired small businessmen have had their retirement hopes smashed in one move by this government. And each and every one of them was paying tax on their income, the idea that the government was not getting any tax income is simply untrue.

But you will notice that while they had time to dream up this fiasco, they haven't mentioned the natives living on reserves that have no clean water, they have nothing for Canadians stuck in Caledonia and they have given themselves yet another raise in pay.
It is time Politicians pay was locked in step with the average wage in the country, and instead of the magnificent pensions they get now, their pensions were looked into what average Canadians can expect. Politicians need to become servants of the country, not the ideologue masters they fancy themselves to be today. I think the lesson Stephen Harper is going to learn as soon as the election is called is well deserved.
