I remember about a year ago when polling showed that the largest single slice (a plurality) of the public identified "Bush" with the word "incompetent"... far out-distancing other word associations... I remember thinking; a lot of this could just be transitory effects from the Katrina screw-ups.

Now... I'm pretty sure that that will *not* be a transitory association.

Rather, it will be the considered judgment of history. It will be what people remember.

Incompetent. Bumbling.

(With lesser associations of 'sanctimonious' and 'anti-individual liberties' and 'pro-bigger, more intrusive government'.)
