If you want to challenge the data, first read the publication and then attack the author, I didn't make up the data, I shared it with you. Now either find something that contradicts it by posting a link and discussing it. Finn describes what he means by a functional illiterate quite clearly...you make think it too harsh but college freshman classes are filled with students taking remedial courses.

You apparently have trouble reading also since you missed the part of the article that says that 19% of recruits this year (2006) are high school dropouts. The author compares that with earlier years when that number was very small..... My original posts were referring to numbers I've heard this year about the difficulties the military is having meeting its quotas..... I don't know if a GED is considered a drop out or not....why don't you research that and post it...
