Didn't CC say that NG might drop if Barrick dropped its bid? Maybe that was when gold was much lower.

John Doody thinks the Arbs have been buying NG here to sell to to ABX at 16.

I'm not so sure. First, that's around an 8% annual return. Is it worth it?

Most importantly, NG had a poison pill that they waived because they had assurances from the big institutional owners that they weren't gonna sell out cheaply.

Institutions own a lot.

ABX's bid for NG expires tonight.

Given the way NG is trading (down 17 cents to $15.53) my guess is that some people realize 50% of the shares aren't going to be tendered to ABX. These people just bought because of the potential takeover and they are now bailing.
