The only soldier I know who has served in Iraq (in this war) got back last year. I did know a man who served in the Gulf War, but he committed suicide. He was my brother in law.

No, I'm relying on media reports about the conditions there. The reports come from a number of the information sources that are on that list in the header of this thread, and include direct quotes from and audio tape of some of the generals who are in Iraq right now.

I will say that the fact that hundreds of Iraqis are being slaughtered in Baghdad each week would seem to indicate we're not really in control there.
