Slacker,

Given the methodology, I am not surprised. It would be interesting to see exactly what kind of material was given to the potential mp3 buyers in order to get the results that they did. I think they did the survey in order to get the results that they wanted.

This is a piece from one of the indie guys that went out and looked at the Zune.

It is one thing to read promotional material and say it sounds like you might get one versus actually looking at one and saying no.

Slacker -

I agree it's a little surprising. But I'd like to see the description of the Zune that was presented with the survey. If it mentions the "wireless connectivity" feature, but doesn't say that it can only be used to send "some" songs to other Zune owners, who then have three plays or three days to decide whether to buy the song, then it wouldn't be surprising that many people would consider the Zune.

Also, most likely for more than half of iPod owners are Windows users. So they dont have the same level of commitment to Apple that Mac-owning iPod users have.

The Zune is supposed to go on sale very soon. We'll see what happens then.
