Frequently in that time the Jews have ruled themselves. There were long periods of subjugation, but the Jews have always wrought great production when they ruled the lands.

Just for instance, how are those greenhouses and fields doing in the land Israel just abandoned? The Arabs Israelis who were allowed to work there were worried that without Jews, they would be destroyed or at a minimum production would decline drastically.
