I put a rec on that post for its simple and concise truths.

I am heartened by reports that democratic leaders would support the basic direction of the engagement in Iraq and that this election rhetoric is mainly for the public consumption to win votes. The liberal public has often had a tendency to hysteria (just look at "View from the Center") despite that democratic Presidents have often done much good for society, IMO.

The bad part is that the rhetoric reaches the soldiers and cannot help but discourage their commitment to their mission.
