I read about 25 years ago that the Lebensborn children were raised in mass-care facilities and many of them grew up ill-adjusted and even paranoid; they were generally quite unable to interact with people brought up normally. Many of them kind of appeared to be social weirdos or oddballs. Perhaps this was because there were not enough "mothers" to love, hug, cuddle them and to bond with them when they were babies and toddlers. Meticulous care was exercised to select young women (they had to have the right Aryan features like blonde hair, blue or grey eyes, proportionate long limbs and physiques and good-sized breasts (assumed capable of producing copious amounts of milk) to mate with Nazi S.S. Officers. The genealogies of these parents were carefully checked to ensure that neither of them had a Jewish ancestor after 1756, that is, after the signing of the Treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle. The Nazis presumably assumed that a span of more than 180 years free of Jewish connection was sufficient to eliminate the last vestiges of any Jewish genes. WWII depleted Germany of a huge segment of its male population. As a consequence, Himmler and several top Nazis bent the rules/requisites and they imported into Germany towards the end of he war large numbers of blonde-haired and blue/grey-eyed boys from Poland, the Ukraine and Sudentanland and from wherever Germans had migrated to many years before the war. .
