Even outside of war and terrorism, if your spouse is a criminal and you protect them you are an accessory and can face punishment.

Do you think we should leave people, countries, and organizations that are protecting terrorists alone? If a group of German women voluntarily marched in front of an SS Panzer division in WWII should we have let the panzer division retreat so that it could attack later?

Killing evil people who are trying to kill you is quite ok.

So then, if a mugger kills you tonite but only uses two bullets to do it's okay because he used some restraint?

No the mugger is a criminal, and I wasn't waging war or terrorism against the mugger.
