If you get past Santorum's culture warrior rhetoric, his actual legislation proves he's quite the progressive, in the best sense of the word. Poor folks in Africa haven't had a better friend in Washington. I still think he may win in a squeaker. I find it hard to believe the good people of PA would turn him out in favor of that empty suit who can't string three coherent sentences together.

Rendell will get a large vote

Turned out that Lynn Swann just couldn't get any traction. I guess Rendall's Football passion made up for Swann's playing. And I am sure that race did play a factor.
