OIL - My gut says that the recent rise in the price of oil is an electoral effect. I think investors are "hedgin" their bets and the winter's coming (sort of a safe time to do that).

There is definitely now a greater magnitude of political influence on the price of oil than when we were having this discussion - needs to be factored into the issue of where oil's going.

I would'nt presume to know all about it but the fact that the Dems are so much more into alt energy, the environment, etc that I'm at least sure there won't be lengthy discussions about giving out permits to do exploratory drilling in the cranberry bogs accross the street from a residential area anymore.

Personally I think 60 is close to high water mark for oil for now. Possibly another bump to 65 mid winter but barring any major geopolitical events I still think supply & demand put the fair market price below 60.
