"Such gains have taken on added importance since the Supreme Court ruled in June that states are free to redraw districts at any time, without waiting until after each decade's national census."

DeLay opened a real Pandora's box with that one.

John,

looks like Americans sent a very loud message to these Republicans yesterday. Democratic House and tied for Senate with two Senate elections undecided but currently with Dems in the lead.

I'm very pleased with the outcome. It really restores my faith in our Democracy. We now have restored the checks and balances in our system. I'm hoping the Dems will start taxing the rich and getting rid of the AMT on the middle class. In addition, I hope they get rid of oil company entitlements and start to tax the oil companies through windfall taxes in order to fund energy independence. I also hope they force a timetable for a withdrawal from Iraq.

I have a lot of hopes. My firmest hope though is that these Democrats don't disappoint me. Pelosi outlined a lot of good things for her first 100 hours. I hope she lives up to most of it.

Bush is now a lame duck. They are going to investigate the hell out of him and he will no longer have a blank check in Iraq.

THIS IS A GOOD DAY FOR AMERICA, FOLKS! CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF YOU WHO VOTED DEMOCRAT OR INDEPENDENT!
