A crowd of less than 25 people came Friday night to a Fort Bragg Town Hall forum on Mendocino County's Measure Y, which would call for an immediate return of troops from Iraq.

Your comment is appropriate. There were people elected who could not have been elected if they had run as moderate/conservative Republicans in this election but were elected as Democrats imo because of disatisfaction with the war that became a "peace mission" with the authority of war.

I like John Tester very much. He is a rugged individualist who is an independent free spirit and possesses some great unique qualifications to possibly become a great US Senator:

"Jon Tester was born in Havre, Mont., and lives in Big Sandy. He earned a music degree from the University of Great Falls.

After college, he worked for two years as a high school music teacher before becoming a custom butcher and a member of the local school board.

He became a state senator in 1999.

He now runs his family's farm, which grows organic wheat, barley, lentils, peas, millet, buckwheat, alfalfa and hay.

He and his wife Sharla have two children".

The Patriot act needs to go since it is unconstitutional. But social security is a noose around many people's necks and needs to get phased out too. People should become responsible for their own retirement. If you can't set up a Keough or an IRA to fund your retirement, then don't retire, just continue spending your money recklessly and suffer the consequences. I'm a Liberal in the old-fashioned Adam Smith sense of the term, "no government interference in the economy". I'm sick of activist government from the left and right. Who cares if someone believes in God or doesn't believe in God? If you want to go to mass every day, go, it's a free country. But don't go around telling someone whether they should have an abortion or not. My mom had an abortion when it was illegal in this country. She went overseas to get the abortion. If all the religious freaks don't like it, all I have to say it's too bad, no one has to live up to or down to your values.

Moreover, NATO has fulfilled its purpose so it's time for the US to remove some of its troops overseas. Maybe then the world would be able to live more peacefully.

I don't know too much about Pelosi. And to be honest, I have my own creative life to live, so I don't care to investigate the matter more fully.

Government has become way to powerful and imposing on its citizens.

Whether the result of this election was good or not remains to be seen. I'd like to see Government get off of people's backs and show its citizens respect.
