>>Tell me more about the new Alaska Governor.<<

Sarah Palin is the former mayor of Wasilla, which is north of Anchorage in the Mat-Su Velley. She is a values-oriented Christian conservative, who lost the primary race for Lieutenant Governor in 2002. She then was appointed to the Alaska Oil and Gas Commission, but later resigned because of all the sleaze in the administration of Republican Governor Frank Murkowski.

Palin crushed Murkowski in the Republican primary, and really confounded the mainstream Republican mossbacks. She is associated with the Wally Hickel faction that wants to build an all-USA natural gas pipeline and LNG terminal. Some of the big-oil folks supported Democrat Tony Knowles in the election because he likes their preferred pipeline route through Canada.

She is from Wasilla and is/was the mayor of that city. She had a lot of ground root support. When I was there in August, the popular support ws unbelievable. She seems like a nice person.
