I think that back in the days of Elliott and Gann there was a lot of interest in finding some mysterious laws that rule the markets. They discovered some - or, at least though that they discovered them. To me, Elliott fractals are plenty enough. At least I can see them, and they make sense -- like, actions are followed by (typical) reactions, strength begets more strength... and so forth.
