Both the President and Rumsfeld are good honest men. Rumsfeld was brutally honest and I liked that, so did most at first. The President was more moderate in response after 911 than I would have been. I respect him for his restraint.

Now at least we have got him for two more years, no matter how much NP thinks she is in charge.

I respect Rudi for his post911 actions, and I am hoping he will defeat the Jr. Sen. from NY in 08.

Part of the problem was Bush's loyalty to his friends and appointees. Some, including me, call it a virtue, but it is unfortunately misplaced in big-time politics.

The drubbing the GOP took would not have been nearly as severe if Rumsfeld had been forced out and Cheney retired for health reasons months ago. It would have shown some flexibility. To get rid of Rumsfeld now is to act after the horse is out of the barn.
