I realize it's significance, especially in this nuclear age. What we disagree on is the strategy. Terrorism is a tactic, not an opponent. If the terrorists could use other methods that would give them better results, they would.

The 'war on terror' is a misnomer. So let's call this 'the war on extremism' or 'the war on religious extremism'. If we mistakenly call it 'the war on Islam', then let's just skip to the apocalypse right away, cause we talking WWIII.

Fighting extremism is complicated. It requires both exterminating or neutralizing the 'mature' elements (those who are already wacko and can't be changed) and addressing the root causes. Bush chooses to fight neither battle effectively, due to his poor strategy and even poorer tactics.
