Pointing out that it is a fallacious argument isn't itself a fallacious argument.

If the only argument was the chicken hawk one, you, and they, would have a point.

And without it being the only argument I still have a point. The point being that the chicken hawk argument is an example of the ad-hominem fallacy. A million other arguments don't change that fact, the point isn't about those other arguments. When people raise the other arguments then can be discussed and they have been discussed.

Sometimes it is just fun to needle a coward.

That is itself rather fallacious. Fortunately the majority of people have never served in combat. Not having served in combat isn't enough by itself to call someone a coward.
