The democrats and the republicans have a chance right now.....probably will not last more than a few months into 2007... to change perceptions. Mr. Bush had such a chance right after 9/11 and did not take it. The parties could have worked together then, at least to a large degree. Imagine that....both parties can get pieces of what they say they want if they will try to work together.

And, maybe more importantly, the party that is PERCEIVED by the middle 20% of the electorate as being the one trying to reach across the chasm, gets the benefit of the doubt going forward.

So, which will it be?
