I don't think they are saying they won't impeach under any circumstances, just that they have no immediate intention of pursuing impeachment.

I hear them saying they will investigate. They just don't want to make impeachment the main issue, because people would have been turned off by that during the campaign. Remember this is politics, the Art of the Possible. If the dems had made impeachment a main article of faith for the election I doubt the support for them would have been as dramatic as it was. Now they will investigate, and if they turn up grounds I'm sure they will impeach- but it's not their mission to impeach, but rather to try to uncover truths. Is that not as it should be?

I got this private message from a friend...

<<...some folks think impeachment of Bush and Cheney is coming...>>

I don't think so, scott. The political downside of it is too great for the Dems. Unless one of their investigations--wmd intelligence, energy stuff, should pop up some absolutely compelling evidence.

More likely to be just Cheney. But I don't even expect that.

I think everything, absolutely everything will be played in terms of its possible effects on the 08 election.
