Some people think bashing an idea they hold is the same thing as bashing them personally, or that bashing a behavior is bashing them personally, so some of those people really believe they have been personally attacked. Makes it impossible to interact with them, but I'm sure they really do honestly believe what they believe. Some people are just never going to be in the same reality space as you and I, and we just have to accept that.
