The market is not directly tied to any single event, save for one like 9-11. But the fact that the market continued up in the face of the democratic wave indicates that the market approves of that in the context of other market forces.

I don't credit or blame the democrats or Bush with market movements per se and to do so in a vacuum would never make sense.

Even though Bush has hurt the dollar with his deficits, it may help some of the indexed companies since they do a lot of international business. A lower dollar lowers the cost of labor and can have other import export benefits for many companies.

The falling dollar does hurt the everyday working Joes though.
