As 2008 rolls around, politics may get more partisan.

I will be very surprised if it's not intensely partisan by this summer. There are just too many very major issues the Dem leadership disagrees with Bush about. And Bush has left such a legacy of distrust.

I see it as all talk. On both sides. I expect some opportunistic joint legislation--immigration in which both are roughly on the same page, minimum wage in which Bush can't veto, and, possibly giving the government the power to negotiate drug prices under the Medicare drug program. I really don't see much else. Perhaps I'm missing something.

I see the rest as building resumes, narratives, and whatnots for the 08 election races.

I'll be extremely surprised if I'm wrong.
