You have a much larger degree of faith in the American electorate than I do.

We are only a little over 200 years old. Our founding fathers have the right idea. Democracy is not that easy to understand. We haven't gotten it right yet. We are progressing. We take two steps forward and then fall back a step here and there. The trend is obvious.

An open, tolerant, transparent, generous, and highly educated society is the way to go.

Given that we are a large (300 million people) and diversified country, it will take us longer. Smaller countries like Norway, Sweden, and Ireland in some respect are showing us the way.

We should seek policy based on positive reinforcement. Negative reinforcement has too many bad side effects. Love and goodness are very powerful agents.

Democracy is the path that we have taken, but we still have work to do. We should stay the course.
